The practice

Not mine. Not yours. The field between.

When two people meet, there is what each of them brings, and there is a third thing: the field their meeting creates, which belongs to neither and shapes both. The Third Field is a practice for reading that field, and for tending it.

Relational intelligence

Map the conditions between people. Not fixed traits within them.

Relationships change with context, pressure, time and practice. Most tools for understanding people look inward, at type, temperament, style, and hand back a label that is supposed to stay true. The Third Field looks between: at how a particular set of people listen, decide, differ and follow through, in the situation they are actually in. That is what we mean by relational intelligence: not a trait a person has, but a quality a relationship can develop.

Three moves

  1. 1

    Notice what is happening

Each person reflects privately on recent, specific situations rather than on personality labels: what happened, what they did, what they wished they had done.

  2. 2

    Consider it together

The themes that emerge become prompts for a conversation, opened without deciding who is right.

  3. 3

    Try something small

The group chooses one practical next step and, later, asks whether it changed anything.

No types. No compatibility score. No final verdict. A discussion tool, not a psychological assessment or a prediction.

Three names, one sentence each

The Third Field is the practice. Terroir Trails is that practice set in wine country. Second Humanity LLC is the company that offers both.

What the practice refuses to do

What we will not do.

It will not type you. It will not score you. It will not tell you whether you are compatible, or whether your team is high-performing. It will not repeat anything you said privately. It will not pretend to be therapy, counseling, mediation or HR. It will reflect only what each person chose to share, and it will say so.
