The Relational Map · For teams

Are we actually aligned, or just polite?

Every team is more aligned than its meetings suggest and less aligned than its documents claim. The Team Map shows you the gap: every member answers a few private questions, and the team receives a short shared synthesis and one working agreement to try. No offsite, no assessment, no one rated.

When teams use it

Four moments.

A new leader inherits a team

What does this team need from you that it will not say in the first meeting? Find out in the first month, not the first year.

Onboarding

How does this team actually work? Give a new hire the honest version, and give the team a reason to say it.

The quarterly reset

What has drifted since last time? A Map each quarter, with the same questions and a new answer.

Before an offsite

Arrive knowing what each person privately thinks, so the day is spent on the real questions.

What the team receives

Something short, written for this team.

A shared synthesis
Unattributed themes about how this team decides, disagrees, hands off and follows through, grounded only in what each person permitted.
Questions for the room
A handful of questions for your next meeting, with no one required to lead.
One working agreement
A single habit the team could try for a defined period, and a date to ask whether it helped.

Reviewed by a person before release. Sent by email to everyone at the same moment. Nothing anyone wrote privately is shown to anyone else, including the person who paid. See a page from a Map.

A Team Map needs no travel and no room. Each person answers wherever they already are, and the Map arrives by email, so a team split across three time zones is no harder than a team down one corridor.

How it works

  1. 1

    Start

One person pays for the seats and invites the team by email. Each member creates their own login and makes their own choices about sharing.

  2. 2

    Reflect

Each person answers about twenty questions privately. Roughly twenty minutes.

  3. 3

    Receive

Each person first receives a private Folio, within three business days of the last Reflection. The team Map follows within two business days of the last Folio confirmed. Open it in your next meeting, or with a Director.

Want a person in the room?

Add a Director debrief.

A 60-minute session on video with a Third Field Director, after delivery, to open the Map with the team, hold the first questions, and land the working agreement.

For teams facing a decision, see the Director workshops.

Pricing

  • Team Mapper seat, four to ten$95
  • Director debrief60 minutes, virtual, after delivery$450
  • A team of eight, with a debriefabout $1,200

For now, every Map begins with a short note to a Director. We reply personally within two business days.

Not a performance assessment, not a personality quiz, not a surveillance tool. Private reflections are never shared with an employer, and an organizer cannot consent on anyone's behalf. See Privacy & care.

A few good questions

Does my manager see my answers?

No. Private reflections are never shown to anyone, including the person who paid. The Map contains only unattributed themes, and each person chooses whether their themes may appear.

Is this a 360 or an engagement survey?

No. A 360 asks others to rate you; a survey measures a population. The Map asks each person to reflect on the situation you share, and returns it to the team as a conversation.

What if someone declines?

They can. The Map says how many people took part and is built only from those who did. We do not fill a missing perspective with an assumption.

Can we expense it?

Yes. A team of eight with a debrief is about $1,200, and you receive an invoice.
