Most decisions are made in meetings, and much of what breaks later was never settled in the room. Someone said yes and meant yes-if. The team meets again next week to decide the same thing.

I founded The Third Field to give the decision a home: a workspace where people prepare alone before they gather, where every acceptance carries its conditions in the owner’s own words, and where AI organizes the examination but stops where human consequence begins. It works for four friends planning a summer and for a leadership team setting the year’s goals, because good decisions were never meant to be a boardroom privilege.

I came to this over three decades of making biology legible at scale. At Life Technologies I helped build the Saudi Human Genome Project, a national program of seven centers, and worked on the $725 million acquisition of Ion Torrent. As founder and CEO of Roswell Biotechnologies I led a team through three generations of CMOS chips to the first molecular electronics chip, with Illumina, Danaher, Soulbrain and CSL Behring as partners. I later advised UC Riverside on strategy for its university startups and led CULGenesis, a Cornell spin-out, from license to its first partner evaluations.

The sequence inside The Third Field is not a theory. It is what thirty years of irreversible decisions, those that held and those that didn’t, taught me.
