The Couples Map

More understanding for the life you share.

A relationship can be deeply valued and still have something that is hard to see from inside it.

A Couples Map brings your separate reflections into a thoughtful reading of this season: what sustains you, what is changing, and what you might protect or make possible together.

Two facing watercolor stones, one slate blue and one terracotta, joined by fine gold lines.

Inside the reading

The useful part is what becomes clearer.

Your reflections are the starting point. The Director looks across your accounts, notices where they meet or differ, and offers a reading you can question, correct and use.

The focus is your relationship in its current circumstances. We do not assign personality types or calculate a compatibility score. The reading follows particular experiences through to questions and choices that matter to you now. What makes this a different kind of reading.

Reading detail · Hana & Luis · Fictional example

When helping still leaves one person holding the plan.

Luis describes pickups and cooking. Hana values that care, and still watches for changes, prepares the bag and makes sure there is a backup.

What their accounts suggest

  1. Noticing

    Hana

    Watches for daycare changes.

  2. Planning

    The wider plan

    Appears to stay with Hana.

  3. Doing

    Luis + Hana

    Luis: pickups and cooking.
    Hana: the bag.

  4. Follow-up

    An open question

    Not specified in these accounts.

  5. Fallback

    Hana

Makes sure there is a backup.

Asking for more help can still leave Hana deciding what to ask for. A whole responsibility could be handed over instead.

One possibility to consider

The whole handover,
for two weeks.

On two agreed days, Luis could take on the notices, bag, pickup and backup. They would first work through a changed-shift day, then decide together whether the arrangement fits.

A proposal for both to consider. No agreement or result is implied.

Something worth protectingSunday music and unhurried walks, where they already find ease. The reading makes room for those, too.

What the Map holds

A fuller picture of this season.

The reading makes room for pleasure, affection and what already works, alongside whatever needs attention.

It begins with what each of you is carrying and moves toward what you want the next season to hold. The four dimensions of the Third Field guide that reading: connection, everyday care, communication, and a shared direction with room for each voice.

What we mean by the Third Field
  1. 01

    Your season and inner weather

The circumstances around you, and how each person is experiencing them.

  2. 02

    Where your field comes alive

The moments of connection, care or enjoyment worth noticing and protecting.

  3. 03

    What is changing the conditions

The demands, responsibilities, resources and transitions shaping daily life.

  4. 04

    Understanding what happens between you

A closer reading of an interaction or difference that matters, including what followed.

  5. 05

    Cultivating the next season

What you hope to make possible, and a realistic choice you may want to consider.

What you receive

Private space first. A shared reading by choice.

Your own Folio

A private reading of your own reflection, to help you recognize what you bring, need and hope for. It stays with you and the Director.

Your shared Map

A developed reading from the contributions you each permit, with questions and possibilities that follow from your accounts. Both people review and approve it before release.

A way to carry it forward

You may choose an arrangement, a practice or something to protect. An optional three-line “Our Field’s Climate” card can hold what you choose to remember together.

Your Folio and contribution review come before a separate choice to open combined review. Both people then approve the exact final version. Read how your choices are protected.

Begin with a conversation

Tell us what you would like to understand.

A Director will help you consider whether the reading is a good fit. Scope, fee and timing are agreed before either person begins.

Each person then receives a private invitation and chooses whether to take part. Reflection happens first; the later reviews have their own time and space.

The reading

$195 for two people

Two private Folios and a shared Map when both choose to proceed. The reading begins with the private questionnaire and requires no book purchase. It can be used at home; a wine-country visit is optional.

Add a 45-minute Director conversation for $155, or choose the $350 bundle. See all fees.

Guided Couples experiences include the Couples Workbook. Your questionnaire helps the Director select exercises for your time together, with other areas available for optional practice afterward.

An inquiry begins a conversation and makes no commitment for either person.

Before you begin

A few good questions

Do we need to buy or complete a workbook?

No. A standalone Couples Map begins with the private questionnaire; no book purchase or workbook completion is required. A guided Couples experience includes the Couples Workbook. Your Director selects relevant exercises for the session; other areas are optional to explore afterward.

Is this couples therapy?

The Map is a reflective reading, not therapy, diagnosis or a compatibility assessment. A Director helps you consider whether this is suitable for what you want to explore. Where another kind of support is needed, we say so.

What if we see the same situation differently?

Different accounts are part of the reading. The Director distinguishes what each person says, what the accounts support together, and what remains uncertain. You can correct or disagree with the interpretation.

Who sees my private reflection?

The human Director reads it. Your private Folio draws only on your own eligible answers. You choose which answers may be considered for the shared Map, which are for your Folio only, and which are reserved for the Director and excluded from all reports and AI processing. Your raw Reflection is not automatically shown to your partner.

How does a shared Map become ours to read?

You each review your own Folio and proposed contribution first. Each then separately decides whether to allow combined review. Both must allow it before either sees the shared draft, and both approve the exact final version before simultaneous release. Changes to meaning require renewed review.

Is AI used?

If AI assistance is proposed, the Director explains the tools and data handling and asks each person separately for permission. A human-only route remains available. The Director is responsible for reviewing the reading.

Do we have to agree to a new practice?

No. You may choose a practical arrangement, protect what is already working, try something small or make no new agreement. A proposal becomes an agreement only if both people choose it.

Can we return to the Map later?

Yes. You can revisit the Map you already have whenever you choose. A new reading with new reflections has its own scope, fee and fresh permissions.
